I run for fun?

Most people would rather do anything in the world than run. Why do I do it?

I once again was not able to complete my cross country season due to a knee injury and up until a few days ago I thought I was going to have to have surgery number 2. luckily i just got a 2.5 inch needle stuck in my knee and a month more of therapy to do. I truly was contemplating quitting running...but I just can't. There is something wrong with me. I think the reason I can't give up yet is because I feel I have to prove myself, I have yet to have a successful career at Stout and I know I could be a decent runner ( not a star by any means) and I want to prove that. but actually the truth of the matter is, I love running. I love the feeling of finishing a race with nothing left, or doing 20x 400 meters knowing that the average American is sitting at home and I love that I have met some of my best friends through the sport! I think most runners know the feeling I am talking about. Also, unlike most runners I know that I have come along way. Since I made the decission to give up my one true love (soccer) and start to run I have been on crutches four times, had one knee surgery, and had 6 incomplete seasons. Somewhere deep inside me though, there is still the 9th grade girl that fell in love with running when I ran track for the first time and bored my friends to death every day going over ever detail of the practice from the night before.

Sometimes I wonder if I am insane for not only running but for continuing to run after so many injuries.. but really. I don't think so. =)
